Located in the heart of Buenos Aires city, between Peru street and May Avenue. Since 1954, "London City" was a refuge for poets, artists, politicians who traveled from the Municipal Palace to the Deliberative Council building, journalists who entered and left the neighboring building of the newspaper La Prensa and porteños and tourists who walked and worked along the beautiful Avenida de Mayo.

Inside this place, the Argentine writer Julio Cortazar wrote his novel "Los Premios", which states on its first page "It was in the London of Peru and Avenida"...

Same Day

A notable bar located in the Monserrat neighborhood. It`s the oldest in the city and is a real attraction for those who visit it. On its marble tables and walls is an important part of the history of Buenos Aires. Its most prominent clients were the writers Jorge Luis Borges, Luigi Pirandello, Federico García Lorca and Julio Cortázar, as well as the musicians Arthur Rubinstein and the mythical Carlos Gardel. Its first owner was a French immigrant who baptized it in honor of another famous Café Tortoni in Paris. The imposing façade that overlooks Avenida de Mayo was the work of the architect Alejandro Christophersen.

Same Day

The writer Jorge Luis Borges loved to walk around Buenos Aires. This Square was one of his favorite places. Borges published La Plaza San Martín in his first book, Fervor de Buenos Aires, in 1923. In the poem he mentions "How good is the afternoon from the easy repose of the banks. Down below the port yearns for distant latitudes and the deep equalizing place of souls opens like death, like the dream ". That port he saw in the 20s from the elevation of Plaza San Martín, is now invisible.

Same Day

When it opened its doors as a terrace for a small cafe in 1850, it was named "La Veredita", but later changed its name to the Aeroclub bar, due to its popularity among the members of the nearby Civil Association of Argentine Pilots.

La Biela acquired its current name in 1950, at the beginning of fashion motorsport, when it became a place of encounter for the races of champions of automobiles and for the lovers of that sport.

Some of the details of the decoration are the old black and white photos of car racing champions.

Behind the bar there are photographs taken by the Argentine writer Adolfo Bioy Casares, who was one of those who used to frequent the café with his friend writer Jorge Luis Borges, and who took these photographs to illustrate a book they wrote together.

When tourists enter the traditional cafe, they can see Jorge Luis Borges and Adolfo Bioy Casares figures seated at one of the tables located next to each other at the entrance door.

Same Day

The National Library is the most important library in the country. It was created in 1810 in the Cabildo of Buenos Aires. Nowadays,it`s located in the neighborhood of Recoleta.

Noteworthy is the management of the prestigious writer Jorge Luis Borges, who held the position of Director from 1955 to 1973. During his administration, the construction of a new headquarters (the actual one) was promoted, which was necessary due to the extensive heritage of the Library

Same Day

Founded first under the name of Plaza Serrano, this square witnessed the cultural growth of the Palermo neighborhood during the 1980s. This neighborhood, known for being the epicenter of a Bohemian explosion in the city, is still home to writers, painters, philosophers and psychoanalysts. Among its most illustrious members are Jorge Luis Borges, who dedicated several of his works to the neighborhood of Palermo, where he lived for years. In 1994, the government of the City of Buenos Aires decided to rename Plaza Serrano as Julio Cortázar Square, in honor of another renowned Argentine writer who also made reference to this place in some of his stories, such as "Simulacros"
