At 1,412 feet below sea level, the dead sea in Jordan is Earth’s lowest elevation spot and the deepest hypersaline lake in the world. It is one of the world’s saltiest bodies of water and has a density that makes swimming similar to floating. This salinity makes for a harsh environment in which plants and animals cannot flourish, and that is how the dead sea gets its name. Today, tourists visit the Dead Sea in Jordan as a natural wonder perfect for relaxing and fun in the sun with the family. The Dead Sea’s leading attraction is the warm, soothing salty water itself, allowing visitors to effortlessly float on their back, relax and soak up the sun.
