About This Tour

Discover the famous historical monuments of mainland Greece! Visit some of the most interesting sites in Greece, the archaeological site of Delphi with Apollo temple and the UNESCO World Heritage-listed rock-tower monasteries of Meteora.

TOUR HIGHLIGHTS 

Delphi: Considered the centre of the world in the Greek culture, Delphi is best represented by the famous stone monument, known as the Omphalos of Delphi.

Meteora: In a region of almost inaccessible sandstone peaks, monks settled on these 'columns of the sky' from the 11th century onwards.

Day 1 ATHENS – DELPHI – KALAMBAKA (420 km– 5.5 hrs)

Leave for Delphi via Thebes, Levadia and the picturesque village of Arachova, on the slopes of Mount Parnassus, arrive in Delphi and visit the Archaeological Site. After the visit depart for Kalambaka, passing through picturesque villages and towns of Central Greece.  Dinner and overnight.Overnight in Kalambaka.

Day 2 KALAMBAKA – ATHENS (350 km– 4.5 hrs)

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit Meteora and enjoy the unique and most impressive scenery with ageless Monasteries, containing priceless historical and religious treasures, standing between earth and sky atop huge rocks. Return to Athens via Trikala, Lamia, Thermopylae (short stop to see across the road the Leonida’s Monument), arrive in Athens early in the evening.

What to Bring

Comfortable and light clothing is the most suitable for travelling in Greece. Visitors should not wear sleeveless shirts, shorts, short skirts or skimpy clothing when visiting temples, religious or official buildings. Sun protection, sun glasses, a hat and mosquito repellent can be very useful during your stay.

  • French-speaking guide available on Wednesday departures only, Italian-speaking guide available on Thursday departures only (from 07/06 till 03/09)
  • Pickup/drop off transfer from/to hotels in the city center of Athens
  • Clients staying at the coast will be transferred back to their hotels with the Cape Sounion Tour Bus 
  • We reserve the right to change itineraries and activities due to weather conditions, technical problems or security reasons
  • Early check-in, late check-out, connecting or adjoining rooms in the hotel are subject to availability and not guaranteed
  • In many hotels in Greece, the triple rooms are double rooms with an additional bed or sofa bed. Their comfort conditions are lower than the international standards of the triple room
  • No refund for unused services. Splitting of the package is not allowed
