An early morning flight to Tenzing Hillary Airport in Lukla. This half an hour scenic flight to the Himalayas is considered as one of the most adventurous flights in the whole world. The airstrip of Lukla is one of the shortest in the world and has a single runway. Upon reaching Lukla, we’ll meet the rest of our team members. We start our trek with a gradual descend to Cheplung village that greets us with a stunning view of Mt. Khumbila. The trail continues with gradual downhills until we reach our overnight destination at Phakding. Overnight at a local teahouse.
After the early morning breakfast, we hit the trails under the cool shades of pine forest. En-route to Namche Bazaar, we first walk past the Benkar valley. We then cross over the Dudh Koshi River to reach Monjo village which leads to the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park. The trail then ventures through the national park via Jorsale village towards our overnight destination at Namche Bazaar. Due to its strategic location, Namche Bazaar has become the commercial hub of the Khumbu region. It greets us with a breathtaking view of Thamserku and Kongde Ri Himal. Overnight at a teahouse in Namche Bazaar.
A much-needed acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar before trekking to higher altitudes. On this day, we explore the Sherpa town and walk around the colorful markets, internet cafes, restaurants, and shops. Located at the elevation of 5,100m, Nagarjun lies at the edge of Chukhung valley just above Dingboche. The hike is a steep uphill and may get a little strenuous at times. However, the magnificent panorama of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Lobuche East, Lobuche West, Kangtega, and Taboche Peak is much more rewarding. We hike back to Dingboche for the overnight.
After breakfast at Dingboche, we make our way towards Dungla. Along the way, we will come across the Trekkers Aid Post - located at the village of Pheriche (4210m). The trail leads to a steep uphill on a moraine of Khumbu Glacier towards Chupki Lhara. The top of the ridge is decorated in prayer flags and stone shrines which are made in the memory of the fallen climbers who lost their lives in Mt. Everest. As the trail descends to the moraine of Khumbu Glacier, we find ourselves walking next to some of the highest mountains in the world until we reach Lobuche. Overnight at a local teahouse.
This is by far the most anticipated day of this Himalayan adventure. The journey to Everest Base Camp starts with a slow walk with a gradual ascend and descend on a glacier path. After about 2-3 hours of meandering on rough terrain, we will reach Gorak Shep. The rocky terrain continues as we head towards the Everest Base Camp. After spending some time at the base camp, we retrace our rocky route back to Gorak Shep. Overnight at a local teahouse.
An early morning hike to the vantage point of Kala Patthar is one of the most amazing highlights of this trek. We start our hike early at dawn on a fairly steep trail. Upon reaching the summit of Kala Patthar, the sight of the rising sun over the Himalayan panorama is absolutely outstanding. It offers a sensational view of some of the highest mountains including Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse and Pumori. After enjoying some unforgettable moments at the summit of Kala Patthar, we retrace our route back to Gorak Shep and walk down to Pheriche for the overnight stay.
Leaving the Himalayas behind, we follow the trail of Imja River all the way to Tengboche. Upon arriving at Tengboche, the trail descends all the way down to Phunki Tenga. The trail then passes through the village of Kyangjuma to reach our overnight destination at Namche Bazaar. The hike is fairly relaxing on this day with a pleasant sight accompanying us throughout.
After the early morning breakfast, we begin our walk steeply downwards on a rocky terrain. The trail follows the Dudh Koshi River and leads to several suspension bridges. We walk across ample of colorful prayer flags, chortens, mani walls, small monasteries, and Sherpa settlements before reaching Lukla.
