About This Tour

Panauti is a Newari town around 32 km southeast of Kathmandu is one of the oldest towns in Nepal, with many temples dating back to the 15th Century or earlier on the confluence of the Rosi and Punyamati rivers. In Nepali society, such rivers are considered to be sacred. Panauti, once a major trading center with its own royal palace, today consists of a variety of Buddhist and Hindu religious monuments, and is considered to be one of the area's most important medieval sites.

Namobuddha with old Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery is the most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites in Nepal and the holiest in the world. It is known as the place where the Buddha, in a previous life as a prince Namura, gave his body to a starving tigress and her cubs.

Kailashnath Mahadev Statue is the world's tallest Shiva temple. The statue is 143 feet (43.5 m) in height was made using copper, zinc, concrete, and steel.

Day 1 Kailashnath Mahadev statue

9 am: Your tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and take you for an hour-long drive to the Bhaktapur valley, to see the Kailashnath Mahadev Statue. You will climb up a hill to enjoy the status and also a great view of whole Bhaktapur valley.
Kailashnath Mahadev is the World's Tallest Lord Shiva statue, located in Saanga the border of Bhaktapur and Kavre districts. The height of this statue is 143 feet high and is situated 20 km from Kathmandu, Nepal. It boasts amazing views of the valley along with the mountains and lush green Bhaktapur fields. Apart from the primary Shiva statue, there is a good-looking statue of the whole family (Shiva, Parvati, Kumar and Ganesh). The stairs leading to the main statue have Shiva-lingas of 12 different forms of Lord Shiva.

Same Day Panauti sightseeing

11:30 am: You will reach Panauti, your first sightseeing spot for the day. Visit Brahmayani Temple as you crosses Rosi and Punyamati rivers. You might encounter with lines of mourners making their way to the funeral Ghats. Continue sightseeing of Indreshwor temple, Unmatta Bhairav Temple. Observe various idols of Hindu god and goddess, wood carving on struts, toran around the Indreshwor temple area.

Same Day Namobuddha sightseeing

1:30 pm : Then drive to Namobuddha, and start your sightseeing upon reaching. The story surrounding this area goes that a little prince saw a weak and hungry tigress lying on the ground with small cubs on his hunting tour in the area. The prince saw that the tigress and her cubs were hungry but had nothing to offer immediately. Eventually he fed his own flesh and blood to this striving tiger family. That young prince was off course little Buddha. Commemorating that great story, there is a famous shrine and stone slab featuring the history on the top of hill with great panorama of Himalaya and downhill villages. At 4:30 am drive back to Kathmandu. Your tour ends as guide drops you at your Hotel.
