Lagodekhi Protected Areas also known as Lagodekhi National Park is the oldest national park in Georgia.The route starts from the visitors center and follows the Ninoskhevi River. Established in 1912, it is the oldest protected area in Georgia and encompasses 24,451 hectares of untouched wilderness.Lagodekhi has many different landscapes, rich plants and animals, and beautiful trails. They range in altitude from 590 to 3,500 meters above sea level. This big change in elevation creates many different microclimates and ecosystems. The reserves extend from beech forests to the Alpine zone.Its territory include dense forests, alpine meadows, glaciers, and waterfalls. The trail leads to the ruins of an 11th-century fortress.Hikers can enjoy panoramic views of the Alazani Valley. Interestingly, the border with Azerbaijan is not far away.
