About This Tour

The Reykjavik CatWalk

Join Your Friend in Reykjavik for a Cattastic Walking tour of downtown Reykjavik.

This is a City Walking Tour with a firm focus on our feline companions.

We will follow in the Paw Prints of cats since the settlement of Iceland.
.  
Together we will explore the myths about Cats in Iceland and the world?  We will even explore tails from Cat’s Hiss-story throughout the world.

Included in our tour is even a visit to the one and only Reykjavik Cat Coffeehouse to pet some cats while we sip on Coffee or Hot Cocoa and taste Icelandic pastry.

If we are fur-tunate enough and the Cat gods allow, there is the Paw-sibility that we catch a glimpse of the most famous Cats of downtown Reykjavik, Baktus, Jonsi, and Ofelia to name a few.

We will start up by the pillars at Ingólfur Square and our final destination is the Statue Garden of Einar Jonsson by Hallgrimskirkja Church.

This is a Purrfect 2 hour City Walk in Reykjavik for Cat Lovers

10% of the profit from this tour will go towards The Cat Protection Society and its Cat shelter and hotel, called Kattholt (Cathill)

Day 1 Ingólfstorg by the two pillars is our meeting point

Your Guide will meet up with you at Ingólfur Square in the center of Reykjavik by the two stone pillars(They are over 3 meters high).The square on Google Maps:Ingólfur SquareOur expert local guides usually wear a light blue jacket with Your Friend in Reykjavik on the back.The Square is in front of Center Hotels Plaza, Aðalstræti 6. The Square is at the beginning of Austurstræti (Austurstræti 1).

Day 2 Our first stop is at Gyllti Kötturinn

There we try to spot Baktus the Cat, probably the second most famous Cat of Iceland (After the Christmas Cat of course)

Day 3 We walk to a bookstore to look for the Christmas Cat

Legend tells us that the Christmas Cat can sometimes be found in this excellent downtown book store

Day 4 We check out the Reykjavik Pond

Nestled in the heart of Reykjavik lies Tjörnin, affectionately dubbed the Reykjavik Pond—a serene sanctuary amidst the city's vibrant rhythm.Here, the tranquil waters weave stories of everyday life as locals and visitors mingle, sharing moments of quiet reflection and joy. With its graceful swans and the gentle buzz of nature, Tjörnin offers a serene respite, inviting all to unwind in its soothing embrace.

Day 5 The backstreets of Reykjavik, checking out cats

We continue our stories about Cats, through history.

Day 6 The Reykjavik Kattakaffihusid

Welcome to the Reykjavik Kattakaffihusid, where feline fanatics and caffeine addicts unite for the purrfect blend of cuddles and coffee! This isn't your average cuppa—it's served with a side of whiskers and whimsy. Get ready to paws for a moment and sip your meow-cha while being surrounded by the ultimate moggy madness. Whether you're a cat whisperer or just a casual cat-ffeine seeker, this spot promises a latte of fur-bulous fun and paws-itively delightful company. It's not just a cafe—it's a paw-some playground for cat and coffee enthusiasts alike!

Day 7 We have to check out some Reykjavik Cat related goods

We visit a store that offers beautiful Cat Related designs

Day 8 We pass by Hallgrímskirkja Church

Welcome to Hallgrimmskirkja, Reykjavik's architectural giant that screams "I'm the tallest kid on the block!"Our guides from Your Friend in Reykjavik know all the juicy, fun tales about this iconic landmark.We'll make sure your visit isn't just about ogling at the grandeur; we'll throw in some quirky stories to keep you entertained.Get ready to laugh, learn, and maybe even strike a pose like a Viking conqueror at the top!Who said sightseeing can't be a barrel of laughs?

Day 9 Our Final stop is at the Sculpture Garden of Einar Jonsson

There are some cat related sculptures in the Garden and if we are furr-tunate enough we will see some downtown cats there.
