Learn about the history and culture of the Kathmandu valley with 2 different religions from your guide. On this tour, we take you two very popular places to visit in the Kathmandu Valley is Swoyambhunath stupa and Patan Durbar Square. Both places are UNESCO World Heritage Sites and feature
wonderful places to experience the local culture, religious life, and art that the Kathmandu Valley is famous for. A private car start from Kathmandu to Swoyambhunath stupa (also known as "Monkey Temple" because of the large number of rhesus monkeys that call this place home) takes about 20 minutes to drive to the western part. Swoyambhunath stupa is located on the top of a hill overlooking the city of Kathmandu. There are many steps to the top of the pilgrimage site where it opens into a plaza with a large stupa and numerous surrounding temples. From the top of Swoyambhunath observation point, you can get great views of Kathmandu valley along some snow-capped mountain on a clear day. A private guide explains the religious and cultural significance of Swoyambhu. Fortunately, there is a back way out where there are not so many steps to where the private vehicle waits to journey next to Patan's Durbar Square. The next stop goes to the place known as the City of Art. Patan is an incredible place with its royal palace, many temples, museum, and neighborhoods. The tour goes through the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Site to explore the interesting places in Patan. The Patan Museum features rare works of art as the Newari people are famous for their artistic ability. The various temples along with the royal palace offer exemplary examples of the arts produced by these creative and talented people. After 4 hrs exploration in both parts, we will drop you at your Kathmandu hotel or in Thamel.
