Kibale National Park is best known for its population ofaround 1,000 chimpanzees, man and his closest genetic relative. Thepark is home to a dozen other primate species, includingUganda mangabey, a type of monkey that is unique to Ugandaand difficult to see anywhere other than Kibale. It supports adazzling forest birdlife, with 370 species recorded, rangingfrom the outrageously colorful great blue turaco to thesecretive green-breasted pitta.There is something about chimpanzees that makes them oneof the greatest safari prizes of all. Explore Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda's best allround safari destination.
