Day 1 Vardzia cave monastery

You will visit Vardzia is a cave monastery built in 12th century. The caves stretch for 500 meters and in up to 19 levels. The Church of the Dormition, dating to the 1180s during the golden age of Tamar and Rustaveli. The site was abandoned after the Ottoman takeover in the 16th century. Extended area of Vardzia-Khertvisi has been submitted for future inscription on the UNESCO Heritage List.

Day 2 Rabati Castle

You will visit Rabati Castle that was originally established in the 9th century as the Lomisa Castle, but was rebuilt by Ottomans. Most of the surviving buildings date from the 17th-18th centuries.

Day 3 Borjomi Central Park

You will visit a balneological and climatic resort Borjomi known with its mineral water used for drinking and balneological procedures. Mineral Water Park of Borjomi dates back to the 1850s. You can taste the natural Borjomi mineral water and relax in a beautiful environment.

What to Bring

  • Ladies need to wear headscarves and dresses in Georgian orthodox churches. Short trousers for men are also forbidden. Scarves and dresses can also be found near some church entrances.
  • Comfortable shoes and warm jacket are recommended.
